Eagles, Great

The Great Eagles are the messengers of MANWE . When the Elves returned to Middle Earth he sent some of the Eagles under THORONDOR to watch and assist the Elves in their efforts, and to observe the doings of MORGOTH .
These great creatures are 15-20' in length and boast a wingspan of 30-40'. They can easily carry a man.
They are still valuable allies of the Fair Folk. Most now reside on the peaks of the Misty Mountains in the area of the HIGH PASS . They are still active, most recently in The Battle of Five Armies.
