Calvin Packard Character in Munson, NY: The Most Haunted Square Mile in the US | World Anvil

Calvin Packard

Mister Calvin Packard. Quite a piece of work that one. He has worked on the Erie Canal for several years now, and seems to have hated every moment of it. Grumbling about this and that, whether it be his work, his home life, his distaste for certain members of our community. The loudest of these grumbles is about the "uppity" Celia Hooker, a fact that she wears with pride. Their mutual hate is based on a difference of politics, with Mr. Packard very much believing that women have it good enough as it is, tending to the home and children while the men go off to work, and has suggested on occasion that some women could be brought down a peg, in fact.   There have been multiple instances that those comments have gotten a hard right hook from Ms. Hooker, knocking Mr. Packard flat on his back. There was an occasion where Packard directed some quite distasteful comments (that I would frankly will not repeat) to a member of my staff, Della Crandall. Why, Ms. Hooker had to be restrained before she killed the man.   While one won't find much sympathy for Mr. Packard around town, but he is the one to go to for information about the comings and goings up and down the Canal. It is my understanding that Mr. Packard has developed some recording mechanism to mark when a ship comes and goes without recording it by hand.

History

Jacobs Mother is the person who raised him and supported his whole family financially, so when he heard Calvin Packard's loud mouth he resented him from there. Since he has quite the distaste in the position of women Jacob never liked him as he looked up to how hard working his mother was even in dire situations.

History

Rena heard of Calvin Packard's antics through Celia Hooker, and the academic quickly developed a disdain for the man before ever laying eyes on him. After one two many meetings with him, she is filled with a sense of agitation; he reminds her of the beliefs her family attempted to impose on her.
