Personal history
Born on the 13th of Second Seed, 2467 EO, Telianor Noth Osven was immediately perceived not only as royal, but also as divine. The infant royal glowed with holy fire when inspired and when full of emotion, and thus, was seen to glow with Ao's holy power. His father and mother kept the prince thoroughly sheltered and protected within the Cathedral Palace, likely fueling his later passion for exploration and discovery.
When the emperor, Osven Gradditz Yth Osven, was taken by illness, his son, Telianor Noth Osven, was crowned the new emperor at seven years of age. The youngest monarch in imperial history, Osven Telianor Noth Osven, on the same day as his coronation, declared an end to the Era of Order and a beginning to the Era of Discovery.
In the third year of Osven Telianor Noth Osven's reign, the northeastern city of Morrgys was attacked by a massive goblinkin horde. The horde, after overwhelming the city's defenders, occupied the city and constructed devious and brilliant defenses in the already highly-defensible city.
The emperor unleashed the Lapis Wolves, led by Chapter Master Egrud Goreclaw, to liberate the city. While the city was reclaimed in short order, Master Goreclaw praised the cunning defenses and unusual weaponry employed by the hobgoblin warchief, Mikilos. When the warchief was brought before the emperor, instead of executing him, the emperor demanded he put his mastery of the sciences to work developing new technology for the empire.
He thus founded the Amethyst Flames and declared the hobgoblin Mikilos the chapter master, much to the surprise and shock of much of the population. The Flames have since made great strides in the sciences and have earned a modicum of respect by the populace, but are still the subject of significant distrust.
After the founding of the Amethyst Flames, the emperor directed their efforts almost exclusively toward strengthening naval vessels to such an extent that they might survive the Thunder Wall.
Through a combination of science and magic, the Flames outfitted an armada of exploration crafts with the equipment and staff it would need to make it through the Thunder Wall and discover what lies beyond. When the emperor was confident in their work, he authorized the first expeditions to whatever lay beyond the storm, and, with many excited cheers and tearful goodbyes, the first ships set off.
They were, with extraordinary difficulty and heroism, able to make it through, and found an entire continent beyond. In short order, they began colonization, and sent ships back to report their success. The young emperor was given almost unilateral credit for this massive stride in exploration, though he has declared the achievement a success of the new chapter.
