Nucwylon City

The Untouchable City

It's important to note that, while they may smile and laugh, the people here always mean more than they let on. Don't be fooled by the pretty faces; there's a lot of bitterness about the manner in which Nucwylon was brought into the Empire--And the oldest still remember it.

Government

Nucwylon City, like most cities in the Empire, is governed by a royal governor appointed by the Emperor, as well as a council of advisors with specialized fields of interest, who themselves have major legislative authority over their fields of interest. The citizens of these cities have the power to recall every member of the council, as well as the royal governor, with appeals to the Emperor and special elective action.   In Nucwylon City, the royal governor is Gaelas Firaelyn, who has been royal governor for just over five years and was the first governor appointed by the current emperor.

Defences

The entirety of Nucwylon forest is protected by the Waywatchers, patrols of elven rangers who constantly stalk the woodland, rooting out and destroying threats to the forest. Additionally, the elven magic-users are able to call upon the forest itself for protection, summoning primal forces of nature to destroy their foes.

Industry & Trade

Nucwylon forest is entirely self-sustaining and requires no trade to maintain itself or its economy. Traditionally, most common folk living within Nucwylon City are allowed to enjoy lives of quiet leisure and study. Some Llithari artisans, however, do produce weapons, armor, jewelry, and works of art, and sell them to the Empire at large. Elven-produced goods have a great deal of value to most inhabitants of the Empire for their aesthetic beauty.

Infrastructure

Nucwylon City is built in and around the massive trees of Nucwylon Forest. However, rather than "built," Nucwylon structures are "sung" into existence, magically pulling the matter of natural structures into desired shapes and patterns. The city is situated upon and around a large, horseshoe-shaped waterfall in the center of the forest. However, the value of the structures is not seen so much in the structural integrity of them as it is in the aesthetic beauty, with Nucwylon architects considering themselves poets, rather than designers.

Guilds and Factions

The most powerful guilds and factions within Nucwylon are the ancient, noble elven families which have inhabited the city for millennia.   Nurduin: The family traditionally tasked with the protection of the forest, the leadership of the Waywatchers is typically drawn from the Nurduin family, who are given great respect for the upholding of their sacred task. However, their failure to protect Nucwylon from Osven the Great still weighs heavily as a mark of shame upon them.   Vaernud: The family of the finest crafters in the Nucwylon. Members of the Vaernud family traditionally take up some form of crafting, be it armor, weapon, or jewelry crafting. As physical creations in Nucwylon are seen as expressions of emotion and intellect, the Vaernud family members are also seen as some of the greatest poets in Nucwylon. To own or be given something produced by the family is considered an enormous honor.   Moethet: While magic permeates life in Nucwylon, the Moethet family has devoted itself exclusively to the practice of magical arts. It is due to this family that the forest is able to be so readily called upon and the structures of Nucwylon are formed as they are. Additionally, the Moethets also founded and instruct at their academy of the arcane, from which some of the finest practitioners of magic in the Empire originate. In fact, Emiryn Coraellian Moethet, the chapter master of the Topaz Pages, is also the matriarch of the Moethet family.

Geography

Nucwylon City is located within a massive forest of the same name, and is built on and around the cliffs and trees of a waterfall in the center of the woodland.

Natural Resources

Aside from animal products within the forest, the natural resources which might be found within Nucwylon are and will remain untapped.
