Government

Suderas, like most cities in the Empire, is governed by a royal governor appointed by the Emperor, as well as a council of advisors with specialized fields of interest, who themselves have major legislative authority over their fields of interest. The citizens of these cities have the power to recall every member of the council, as well as the royal governor, with appeals to the Emperor and special elective action.
In Suderas, the royal governor is Erran Mellard, a wildhunt shifter female and former ship captain who was appointed as governor 10 years ago.

Defences

Suderas is built in the northern dragonborn style, with tall, spiked walls with numerous, vicious-looking blades affixed to the outer walls. Also around the outer walls is a deep moat, lined with stakes, with a drawbridge providing access to the main gate. Suderas is also the home of the imperial navy, and is extremely well defended from the sea. In addition to the imperial guard, Suderas also maintains its own private guard force, the Tyr Meglos, which is privately trained and very capable.

Industry & Trade

Suderas' primary industry is ship building and, though their ships might not as pretty as the ships built in Khiladh, they can reportedly handle much more punishment and, in recent years, are perfectly built to handle the Thunder Wall.
Suderas' status as the largest port in the Empire proper also means it sees a great deal of traffic in shipped goods, most of it on the way to Reikthald, but much of it sold in Suderas.

Infrastructure

Suderas is home to the largest shipyards in the Empire proper, as well as numerous watermills and canals which run throughout the city.

Guilds and Factions

Many factions exist within Suderas, but most are made up of individual ship crews. There are a few land-bound organizations however, some of which are listed below.
The Tyr Meglos: Literally, "The People Shield," but, colloquially, "The Protectors." The Tyr Meglos are the ancient military of Osvenyan dragonborn, now repurposed to defend the largest population of dragonborn in the Empire.
The Cartographers: A known criminal organization, typically made up of pirates, devoted to the making and discovery of treasure maps. They also function, more often than not, as informants for people looking to find certain pirates.

Suderas is situated at the delta where the Osvenya River meets the Godless Ocean, built mostly along cliffs and beachfront.
