Hallucinations
Hallucinations are the result of a human (such as Ta'zhen) consuming too much ale. The exact amount, like drunkenness, varies based on weight, whether one ate that evening, how much one is drinking and how quickly, but eventually, it does happen. Ale is not a grain-based alcohol, in this case, and the chemicals which induce drunkenness in Stenza react in peculiar ways when imbibed by other species.
Causes
A human hallucinates when he or she consumes too much Stenza ale, a fermented beverage based on fat or blubber, the primary ingredient of which intoxicates Stenza (which is why they make it in the first place) but disrupts interaction between the frontal lobe and sensory cortex of the human brain. The exact disruption is as yet unknown, but in the one-person sample, this manifests as visual hallucinations which may couple up with as-yet-unprocessed traumatic memories. The responses of other humans to Stenza ale are unknown.
Treatment
The best treatment so far is to simply wait out the hallucinatory period, possibly with close friends such as a Blood Sibling. The drug wears off within a few hours with no known lasting side effects.
Prevention
Ta'zhen herself admits to a strict limit of "two drinks" per evening of ale before switching to something else entirely, so as to prevent hallucinations. The ale does not seem to get her drunk (at least, not as quickly as it causes her to see things), and she sometimes uses it as a water substitute or because it "tastes good" in combination with certain foods.
