Thun Daema

Thun Daema , commonly known as the Kingdom of Daema, is one of the 3 Human Nations founded under the guidance of Oramar Mordol located in Edris Orut. Thun Daema rose to prominence in the wake of a crumbling theocracy which came before it, Shuralia. History tells of the arrival of the Dwarves at Shuralia's moment of great need, not to save the nation - but the people. Oramar Mordol stood with the Humans of Edris Orut against the Scaled Horde.   Emperor Trumm Mordol forged the broken pieces of Humanity in Edris Orut into Thun Daema. In the 457 years since, Thun Daema has risen to prominence and upholds the heritage passed onto them by Oramar Mordol with vigor.   Legislative Titles & Bodies   The Crown rules over Daema based on legal tradition and history heavily inspired by the Empire. The King rules over the Synod, a council which seats the 13 Earls of Daema. Each Earl rules over a substantial tract of land, known as a Duchy. The Earls are responsible for the oversight and rule of their citizens. Below the Earls, the only other notable seat of Daeman nobility is the Baron. There are 4 Barons across Daema, which formed as part of a decree by the Synod, to act as a standing army on behalf of Daema and guard against the northlands and its Orcish inhabitants. Each Baron is welcome to attend the Synod, but may only raise issues on matters of defense.   Beneath each Earl, there are numerous tiers of nobles with minor titles. They are relevant in regional politics, but who have limited influence across the Nation - that is unless their House is powerful enough to demand notice. There is a historic precedent that each Earl is assigned a region, the Earl acts as steward to that region - meaning, that if another Noble House rises in prominence enough, they would become the natural successor to a seated Earl.   Historically, the Synod serves as the voice of their people, their advocate in affairs of State. The Synod gathers to advise the Crown and each Earl may cast a vote on legislation that will impact Thun Daema and her Citizens. In theory, the Synod as a whole is considered to hold an equal authority as the Crown - with a legal basis to remove the King. In practice, the power of the Synod varies based on the position and strength of each member and the status of their Duchies as opposed to the support and capacity of the King.   There are numerous examples of when the Synod has acted as a rubber-stamp for the Crown, and a few examples of a Synod managing all meaningful affairs of State.   Judicial Body   The Crown rules the High Courts. Each Earl may structure and staff regional Courts as long as they remain in accordance with legal precedent and custom. The Barons may not interact with Daeman Courts; however, as each maintains a military force - they are allowed to freely stand in judgment of those in service to the Baron. Daema has the most developed and nebulous legal code of any human nation and, as a result, has a strong industry built upon the Court System - including State Prosecutors, Judges, and Attorneys.
