Thelmur

Thelmur is a Dwarven God of honorable strength. Strength isn't a literal concept among Thelmurin, but the power that Thelmur celebrates is Martial by nature. While Thelmur doesn't abhor magic, a worshipper must chiefly draw their strength from themselves. Thelmurin always seek to improve their strength, advocating scaling greater and greater challenges, and creating their success - dictating circumstance, rather than allowing oneself to be victimized by circumstance.    Thelmur values strength above any other virtue, he does not dictate how that Strength must be used beyond a handful of tenets which are reflected in the expectation of honorable & justly-employed strength. To start, a Thelmurin must not sully an honorable exchange of violence through dishonorable practice - there is no exact list of what practices are dishonorable, but broadly - deception, failure to hold true to one's word, and more arcane methodology fall under a wide umbrella of dishonorable practice. Certain Thelmurin believe in honorable & justly-employed strength, which suggests that they must not victimize the weak, but not all Thelmurin adhere to this belief.    Thelmur is centrally about empowerment, so regardless of the philosophical path of each follower, a Thelmurin will always offer the means to another to improve themselves. Thelmurin often opposes the concept of charity, as the charity does not serve the individual, but rather robs them of the opportunity to control their own fate. The old saying, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.", is from a notable scholar of Thelmur.    Thelmur is viewed as a nebulous faith in many circles, as he has no strongly maintained views regarding the treatment of others - exclusively focusing on oneself and the accumulation of power. However, Thelmurin pride themselves on instilling followers with the strength to act, which can be a driver for change in otherwise steadfast regimes and hierarchies.    There is a long-held debate among the few Thelmurin who explore the philosophy of their faith, as to whether or not strength gives the right to rule.    A Thelmurin will never flee from a challenge, to do so is to permanently marr their soul to Thelmur - and they will never be welcome in his Hall.    Thelmur stands apart among the Dwarven Gods as the only one to broadly open the faith to non-Dwarves.
