Taiia

Taiia is the chief goddess of the people of Daema. She embodies the Daeman cultural identity and ideals above all other Gods. Within Daema, clergy is synonymous with the clergy. Taiia embodies the ideals of honor, charity, mercy, and kindness, expressed through a broad range of domains and there are two different accepted facets to the clergy of Taiia.   The chief worship of Taiia is guided through the Chantries of the Mother, the Matrons of Taiia, which pray for a good harvest, health, fair weather, and provide various humanitarian efforts within any settlement with a Chantry. The Chantry acts as the formal hierarchy for Taiia and organizes the worship of the Grand Matron. They lead regular services that preach the importance of generosity and adherence to the laws that bind Daema, laws written in the spirit of Taiia naturally. Additionally, every Chantry is well known for providing charitable service to their community and often acts as a shelter for the downtrodden of the city.   The second, much smaller, segment of Taiia's clergy are the Celebrants. Celebrants view Taiia as the Lady of Joy and travel across Daema, providing many similar services to the Matrons, but as they travel across Daema. The chief difference lies in an emphasis on spreading joy to the people of Daema, not simply providing for their needs. Celebrants believe that Taiia chiefly desires for her children to be happy and see their holy mission as bringing that joy to the people. Additionally, Celebrants believe Taiia abhors violence between her children, and therefore Celebrants refuse to protect themselves against Humans. Celebrants are also well known for their contempt for war and they will actively refuse services to those within Daema who indulge in war with one another. They frequently organize festivals in the towns they pass through and can be distinguished by brightly colored attire. It's unheard of to see a Celebrant in a foul mood.   Taiia is chiefly worshipped in Daema, but she has small followings outside of Daema - whose beliefs heavily clash with Daema views. Everyone acknowledges that Taiia has always been deeply rooted in Thun Daema, but the few followers outside of Daema seem to view Taiia as an entirely separate entity - calling her the Three-Eyed-Mistress.
