Adall

Adall embodies the virtues of truth and hard work; Adall celebrates laborers. Work defines the man - a man who puts the full force of his will into his daily work is an honest man who knows the great truth. Someone who works with their hands from dusk till dawn is an honest man and worthy of respect. A common saying among followers of Adall, "If a man is honest, you will know it by the sight of him." What remains unsaid, but is plainly clear is that a man who does no obvious work for a living is dishonest and cannot know any truth.   However, it is important to distinguish that not all non-physical work is dishonest, but all work can be done in a dishonest manner. While a Writer will never garner respect from a follower of Adall, a noble who sees to his people, who joins in the hard work that needs doing - a noble who leads by example instead of behind a desk, is an honest man. A man can make a profession typically seen as dishonest a just pursuit. Caravaneers, for example, are honest - even though they deal in mercantile which is typically dishonest.   Contests of Strength are used as a legal determinant in many cases brought before proving grounds of Adall. The local Priest to Adall will hear the dispute and occupation of both men and determine a contest which befits the dispute, the man who wins is seen as more deserving given his willful pursuit of honesty. Infrequently, these contests of strength can resort in duels (even duels to the death), but they are based in the measure of the men within a contest. It would be an unfair case if, for example, a Soldier and a Farmer were chosen to duel - the contest must be a pursuit both sides are inclined towards equivalently.   Priests of Adall all practice a physical trade with great vigor, but given the breadth of options available there is no clergy more diverse than that of Adall. A Master Carpenter who works throughout the city to inspire people to honest speech, work, and living could be a Priest of Adall as easily as a Caravan Master who guides those on the road with honesty pursues the security of those he leads. The only universality to followers of Adall is that man needs to be given the opportunity to practice an honest life. Adall abhors slavery as it removes the freedom for man to pursue an honest life.   Adall attracts believers everywhere. However, the Pillars of Man are more appreciated outside of cities than within. Despite best intentions or nature, cities represent a dangerous line to walk for followers of Adall. Cities are inherent dishonesty, inherent perversion from the great truth. Therefore, followers of Adall in cities need to walk a careful balance between the teachings of Adall and the convenience of city life.
