Clupea
Clupea is a port city on the eastern coast of Ilfor, deeply influenced by the culture and presence of the Oleander Throne. Nestled between the Aventine Mountains to the south and the sea to the east, with Grayloch to the west, Clupea serves as a vital hub for trade and Oleander expansion in the Moontide Isles. Its location, perched along the coast, makes it a key point for incoming ships from the Oleander territories, reinforcing its strong ties to the foreign power.
The city's architecture reflects its Oleander roots, with grandiose buildings adorned in white stone and intricate carvings that speak of the mainland's cultural dominance. Temples to The Allfather, the god of the Oleander Throne, are prominent, and shrines to the Old Gods, once scattered throughout Ilfor, have been replaced by Oleander altars and symbols. The people of Clupea, largely converted to the faith of the Allfather, follow strict religious practices, and festivals that were once tied to the Old Gods have been repurposed to fit the doctrines of the Oleander religion.
Despite its Oleander influences, Clupea is not without tension. There is an underlying sense of discontent among some of the older families and residents who remember the days before the Oleander conquest. However, with the city's economy heavily reliant on Oleander trade and protection, open defiance is rare.
Clupea’s harbor is a bustling center of activity, with ships constantly arriving from the mainland, bringing goods, ideas, and further Oleander settlers. The sea to the east provides not only commerce but also a sense of isolation from the rest of Ilfor, making Clupea feel more like an extension of the Oleander Throne than a true part of the Moontide Isles.
To the south, the Aventine Mountains loom, their rugged peaks offering a natural barrier. While the city is largely focused on the sea, the mountains provide a stark contrast to the orderly streets of Clupea, representing the untamed and older forces that still linger in Ilfor.
Clupea is a city defined by its foreign influence, with the culture of the Oleander Throne deeply rooted in its people and politics, yet it remains part of the complex tapestry of the Moontide Isles, where old traditions quietly resist beneath the surface of imposed faith and order.
