Nima Geographic Location in Mithra | World Anvil

Nima

Nima is the smallest of Mithra's moons and arguably the most important. Especially people who have the gift are affected greatly by this moon.

The moon

Smallest of the three moons, Nima is only barely visible on the night sky. It has a cycle of 134 days, and it is only full around three times each year. However, because of the slight offset, these times change a bit each year. The special thing about the moon is its influence on people with the gift and other curves. When the moon is at its fullest, their power is at its peak. The same applies to the reverse. When the moon is at its smallest, the gift is least visible. This power has been associated with this small moon for millennia and is a well-known phenomenon among curvers.

Influence

The moon has had a large influence on some events in history. Sometimes people like to wait with an attack or a war because they want to have the full power of the gift behind them. Other times they know their enemy is relying heavily on the gift, so they attack when the moon is at its lowest. These options are rare, most armies or parties have little gifted, but it's not unheard of.

Attack of Solezan keep

In the third age, during the retaliation of the night of red snow, the humans of the north attacked solezan keep. A Snow-Malen stronghold, important for the war effort. They waited a few weeks with this however, just staking it out and laying siege to it, waiting for the nima to fade. They waited as long as they could, considering a Snow-Malen army was on its way, and then attacked. The curves of the The Dominion had little effect against the specially trained human units.
