Jammus' Feather Item in Mithra | World Anvil

Jammus' Feather

An ancient artifact currently in the possession of, yours truly, archivist at Zoria Falls Academy. Even though most of my friends think it's lame, it is one of my most prized possession. It is a writing feather, that uses your own blood to write. You may think, what a useless spell, why would anyone make that? And in that, I'd agree with you. But it is a very cool artifact, and very funny to hand to someone who doesn't know what it is.

How did I get it?

That is a good question. And it has quite an interesting story. Around two millennia ago, I went on an excursion to the Island of Chatla. We went there with a class of history students and a small band of warriors. We also had some other guests with us. The warchief of clan Northir, a member of his circle named Jessan, and some other teachers. We went to inspect one of the ancient ruins on the island. But I was only really interested in the legend of Mad Jammus, supposedly a crazy but powerful Fount mage who made countless artifacts. He ran away from the Hearthlands and settled on the island. I had done some research, with which I won't bore you, but it led me to a cave that was rebuilt into something that at one point could have been quite a cozy house. There were many weird artifacts there, one of which, a talking skull, I still have here. He keeps me company during lonely nights. Most of the other things I keep in the vault. I also copied a lot of his scriptures onto some decent paper, but sadly most of it had already gone to dust. The warchief laughed at me when I showed him the feather, saying it was cliché and had already been done, he did like the skull though. I must admit though, now that I wrote it down, the story sounds a lot less interesting.
