The continuation of Session 142 - Under the Forsaken temple.

Location - The Fur Road in the Kingdom of Orbaal.

Part 1 - The Dangerous Mountains

The heroes continue their trek along a perilous section of the mountainous trails along the Fur Road, between Geldenhiem and Leriel. In the distance, they see two Wyverns hunting. Fortunately, they haven't seemed to have spotted the travelers, but something else has. Over a ridge above seven, Skaigeth emerge. These quadrupeds, also known as hook hounds, have sharp blades in place of feet and hands. They run down the ridge impaling Avon and Sabretooth. The heroes fight back, and eventually, these bizarre Ivashu are slain; however, the noise of the combat attracts the Wyverns.

The Sabretooth creates a Fog Cloud, which conceals the party, and Moneypenny turns some of the more obvious characters Invisible. The Wyverns quickly lose interest, finding an easier target to hunt.

This target turns out to be a small merchant caravan. The heroes spot the Wyverns feasting on dead guards around a broken wagon. Avoiding this encounter is an option until the heroes spot a dying man who has crawled away from the carnage. Sabretooth and Acheron sneak up on the Wyverns, catching them by surprise, and quickly kill one. The remaining enraged Wyvern proves a handful, flying in, attacking the heroes, and flying out with impunity. It tears into Sabretooth, clasping him in its claws, flying to a height and dropping him onto Acheron, then and repeating this process this time with Acheron thrown onto Sabretooth. As it readies to strike again, Avon and Moneypenny finish the creature off with a ranged attack.

Bojorn, the Ivinian Whale Oil Merchant, is grateful to the heroes and amply rewards the party for saving his life and helping him get his goods to Leriel.

Part 2 - Places of Rest

At the Castle of Leriel, the heroes rest and recover. Sabretooth, who has suffered permanent weakness from previous life-draining effects, is cured by the Priests of the Temple of Ilvir. Sabretooth is pleased to discover that High Priest Llastefan Trythes looks far stronger when they last met. The herbal remedy he prepared has improved his health considerably.

The party then contacts an Anoa guide, and they are safely escorted through the barbarian's territory.

At the City of Tashel, the heroes check up with old friends, and Avon concludes many of his business deals and makes a considerable profit. This will be put to good use. Meanwhile, Acheron makes a generous donation to the Temple of Larani and spends too much time with some ladies of ill repute.

Location - City of Coranan in the Thardic Republic.

Part 3 - War Hero

The heroes arrive back in the Thardic Republic to find a buoyant atmosphere. Marshal Kronas Elernin has recently won the Battle of Asenhem Hills, a decisive victory against the savage Tulwyn Barbarian Nation.

The Marshal has been extolled as the victor and savior of the Republic. He's the hero of the common folk and the legions. Even many of his detractors in the senate have sung his praises, although this may be due to Marshal Kronas commanding three of the Republics' five legions. A triumph is planned, and many say that he should be awarded greater responsibilities and leadership roles.

Part 4 - A Gift

Avon receives a dinner invitation from the sinister Senator Tuvoth Rylen. The food and wine are excellent, and the Senator explains he has taken an interest in Avon's career. He has even purchased the dept and remaining assets of Avon's disgraced uncle.

Among his belongs, Tuvoth discovered a brass talisman that resembles Avon's family crest, which the Senator gives to Avon. The insightful Avon can't help but think Senator Tuvoth has ulterior motives, and this may be a trap.

As the summer of 723TR comes to its end, these heroes take a short rest period while the campaign catches up with another group of heroes currently fighting in the bitter Rethemi Civil War.

The Battle of Asenhem Hill

In the Spring of 723TR, most of the Tulywn tribal nation met at the traditional tribal moot in the hills near Asenhem Hill. Here their god Kekamar is honored, priests cast augury's and war chiefs discuss battle plans.

Marshal Konas massed his forces and approached Asenhem Hill, sending in the cavalry in a surprise night attack to cause chaos in the encampments. By a stroke of luck, they killed Highchief Kirandar and several other senior of the leadership before the cavalry was trapped and destroyed.

Enrage the barbarians massed and attack the combined forces of the entrenched Ramala and Shiran Legions. The fighting was ferocious, however without their best leadership, their brave attacks lacked their typical mobility, planning, and coordination. The late arrival of the Eidel Legion, attacking the flank, sealed the fate of the barbarians. With their best warriors slaughtered, their fighting wedges collapsed and routed. It is estimated well over half the Tuwyn warriors were causalities. It will take decades for the Tulwyn to recover their strength.
