Rite of Nao-Thian Tradition / Ritual in Misty Isle of Harn | World Anvil

Rite of Nao-Thian

The Rite of Nao-Thian is also known as the Whispers in the Dark Ritual.

It is an evil ceremony carried out by the Temple Assassins and Priest of the Church of Naveh, summoning the Greater Gytevsha, Krasula, also known as the "Hunter of Sleep."

Krasula will then walk through the streets of a city or town causing the sleeping populations to have horrific nightmares. Those that don’t die of shock will waken with insane murderous rage.

The resulting bloodbath, chaos, and death toll will be used to empower an unholy artifact, usually a crystal skull or a weapon such as the famed Desridaen Longknifes.

Components and tools

The ritual has a number of specific requirements, these include;

  • Collection of Scrolls called of Manifestation of Nargrathian containing prayers, chants, and instructions to perform the ritual.
  • Blood from someone of royal descent who will be sacrificed as part of the ritual.
  • Ashes from a Dryad's tree that was burned.
  • A pauper's last coin.
  • The last copy of a religious book from one of the “Good” Gods, which is burnt as part of the ritual.
  • A diamond that has never been exposed to sunlight (will turn black in the ritual).
  • The last air breathed by a goodly holy person who has never committed violence.

Observance

It must take place during a night of the new moon. This ritual is especially powerful during Shadowmath, the Night of Shadows (1st day and night of Morgat).
