Embassy of Living Flame
The Embassy of Living Flame is a small but influential Clerical Order which answers directly to the Amanasurif (Agrikian Pontiff) in the Azeryani Empire. They fill the role of ambassadors, investigators, and, if required, inquisitors. They are the Pontiff's eyes and ears among the various Agrikian Clerical and Fighting Orders across the world.
Membership is theoretically drawn from Clerics of any Agrikian Order, anywhere in the world, who demonstrate "perfect" knowledge of religious dogma and language or diplomatic skills. However, in practice, most members are from the Azeryani Empire and then from the Hierarchy of Eternal Flame or Orders closely associated with the Pontiff.
The Embassy has considerable political power, speaking with the Pontiff's voice, but has no authority over the local churches. However, if they discover incompetence or heresy, they can make recommendations to the Pontiff. The Pontiff can then order the removal of ranking Priests from office or even have a whole Religious Orders declared heretical as they did with the Order of Khamar in 489TR. Sometimes more direct action is required, including organizing a Trial by Ordeal, Assassination, or an Inquisition.
Recent Activities.
The Embassy of Living Flame has recently sent a Mission to the Hârnic isles to investigate possible Heresy and a rumored military disaster befalling the Order of the Warriors of Mameka in the north. They have also taken the opportunity to observe the Rethemi Civil War.
