888 Sacred Cairns Item in Misty Isle of Harn | World Anvil

888 Sacred Cairns

Some of the inspiration and details are derived from Colombia Games and Hârn Religion Team (HRT) Archive.

The Great Agrikian prophet Ilpylen had the 888 Sacred Cairns constructed in the year 1510BT. These were given to his eight acolytes who were instructed to spread them over the corners of the world during the so-called Time of Sacred Wandering. His acolytes dutifully followed his instructions spreading the word of the fire god Agrik and the Sacred Cains among the villages and wilderness as they traveled.

Agrikian Myth is sometimes confusing, but The Balefire Chronicle and other prophecies state the 7,104 years after the divine ascension of Ilpylen, the Cairns will be united. Then the mountains will erupt, and the gates of fire open. Agrik and his followers will have their final battle with Larani and her minions. The forces of the Emperor of Flame will prevail and rule the world forever. Most scholars believe the date of this apocalyptic time is 5,593TR, over 4,900 years in the future.

Khamari Heresy

The Order of Khamar was declared heretical by the Amanasurif (Agrikian pontiff) in 471TR for preaching the “Khamari heresy.” They believed that the key to finding the 888 sacred cairns involve great sacrifice and self-inflicted pain, the Trials of Mamaka. Agrikan theology has long abandoned this dogma believing the sacred cairns will be found only when Agrik wills it.
