Qavontysis, Sea-Demon of Boka Bay
This Gargantuan Turtle, with a breath of scalding steam and a shell harder than Iron, is said to haunt Boka Bay along the Rethemi Coast.
Oral legends date back to before the Corani Empire among the Jarinese petty kingdoms tell of the greedy Qavontysis, the turtle who sleeps for years, only to be wakened by the smell of magic or an electrical storm.
The Kurboran tribes refused to fish in the bay to this day believing it cursed by a Turtle Demon. However, it is more likely they are avoiding the better-armed navy of the Companions of Roving Doom who are based out of the nearby Castle of Arketh.
More recently religious scholars suggest that Qavontysis may be a Pradeyalkri, one of the mythical monsters expelled by the God Sarajin from the Ivinian northlands. Others say it is an agent of Eder the imprisoned sea god.
In any case, this monster is rarely ever seen but is blamed for the occasional missing merchant ship traveling to the City of Golotha caught in a storm.
