High elf

Basic Information

Anatomy

Instead of organs, their body is made up of different gems and crystals

Genetics and Reproduction

An elf must consume a piece of gem before having intercourse with another elf. When the elf feels ready (between 5 months to three years normally), they’ll choose a time to lay a small egg made of the same material the mother swallowed, as well as what the mother and father are made of. The chosen time varies egg to egg, and if done too soon or too late can cause death or birth defects. Because of this, they have a very low birth rate.

Growth Rate & Stages

High elves go through three separate stages of growth. The earliest, their childhood years they look like average wood elves on the outside. As they go through adolescence, they grow rapidly and exhibit more unique traits that vary by the type of gems they have. In adulthood, they continue to grow though more slowly, only stopping when a certain musical frequency is played to them. They call this full maturation and is when they can finally start reproducing if they so desire.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer mild to warmer climates, but require places that are rich in mineral deposits or nutrients in the soil.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They don’t eat food, and instead gather energy by absorbing heat from the sun or magical sources.

Additional Information

Social Structure

They have a strong affinity for opulence, and views the tallest of their society as if they were demigod celebrities precisely because it means they have more gems within their body. Because they have no real need to sustain themselves outside of rest and absorbing energy, the lower class elves are expected to serve the high class elves, even if it means losing limbs just to decorate their ostentatious mansions carved into the mountains.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Because they’re made of gems, they have very high magical potency that magic users want to harvest. Because it’s illegal to harvest them, the next best thing they go for is collecting the eggs of unhatched elves for obscenely high prices. If there’s enough of a developed foetus in there, it makes for a tasty delicacy as the meat doesn’t turn to crystal a day until adolescence. High elf foetus is the only known case of cannibalism that’s not shunned within the noble courts.

Facial characteristics

Long face with large heads, two small mouths, two pairs of wide set eyes.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They’re found almost exclusively in West Jyalb, but on rare occasions can be found in Symilf or Fzalder.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

In most West Jyalben settlements, they see gender as colours, with each gender labelled by different colour schemes (achromatic, monochromatic, analogous, complimentary, triadic, split complimentary, double split complimentary, polychromatic, tetradic, discordance), so 10 total. Elves are expected to follow the colour codes to a T, ranging from colour codes in clothes, colour palette inspired names, and even behaving similar to the concept of colour meanings.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Gifting is a common custom regardless of class status. It’s a great signifier to strangers that you respect their existence, especially if the gifts are handmade by you, and especially utilising your own body parts (which is often used for flirting within the same class, or as a sign of submission or domination against a different class)

History

Originally known as the Lynç elves, they were cursed by Lady Merthicz into being living gems as they were the side that supported Fyayn’s cause, and were actively attempting to overthrow her. Since then it’s been taking forever for them to adapt to their new life and has led to some quite eccentric behaviour and cultural practices.   Because of the complicated reproduction process, and noble humans largely turned their backs on them to exploit them, their population has drastically decreased to the point of endangerment.

Common Myths and Legends

There’s talks of a myth about an ancient society that Lynç elves existed in where they were the ruling class, and that many of them served a goddess much like Lady Merthicz.

Lifespan

Conservation Status
High elves are considered endangered, especially due to people constantly kidnapping them to harvest their gems. Because of this their main settlements are heavily guarded in West Jyalb, and are encouraged to not venture out of their settlements.
Average Height
7’6”
Average Physique
Extremely lanky, unnaturally skinny with very little body fat. They almost look stretched out with their odd proportions.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
They’re pale as ghosts with very little variation in skin colour. The most variation they get is when light hits them a certain way and the gems glow underneath. Often times they can be found with natural dark markings, though they usually appear after taking damage to the skin.
