Centaur

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their anatomy is more or less just a simple combination of a human torso with a horse body. Most of their intestines are in the human half. The horse half is more dedicated to the respiratory system, as well as cardiovascular, reproductive, and musculature systems. The human half is more focused on the digestive and endocrine systems, with the rest of the systems having equi-distribution.

Genetics and Reproduction

Giving birth is a very painful process because of the shape of their bodies. Thankfully through evolution that pain isn’t as bad, as newborns can bend their humanoid bodies nearly 360 degrees in any direction. They’re also much smaller than actual human and horse newborns.

Growth Rate & Stages

They go through two different puberties. The first one occurs around adolescence, and the other when they’re a young adult.

Ecology and Habitats

They thrive in steppes and prairies, especially in temperate weather (though they can handle cold temperatures very well, usually down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit before needing protection.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They’re herbivores, and must eat small meals all day to stay healthy.

Additional Information

Social Structure

They vary across many settlements, although most places recognise a matriarchal structure where women are in charge. Men are often expected to work the fields while the women help organise and rule over the settlements.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Centaurs are often hired as wagon drivers, though are often exploited through cheap labour as many don’t view centaurs as a full person of sorts.

Facial characteristics

They have similar face structures to humans, though they do have fur all over their skin, except their nose and lips. More often than not, they have regular human-shaped ears, but can sometimes be found with elongated elf-like ears.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Mostly found in East Jyalb, sometimes can be found in the West, and even on Fzalder.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They don’t necessarily posses much magical prowess in terms of direct spell casting, though they’re often born with some form of indirect magic. Usually it manifests in supernatural knowledge about health and the world around them.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Naming traditions vary, but they’re normally named based on the colours of their fur when born, or if they were born from religiously important events.

Beauty Ideals

Femininity is considered to be a main beauty ideal, even men most often dress and act feminine. They also care deeply about their looks, even using illusion magic to present how they wish.

Gender Ideals

They view gender as being very fluid, and will often transition for a number of reasons, even if it’s just for male born centaurs to assume leadership roles.

History

No one knows where they come from, not even centaurs know. They were around when the Human-Ivierae War was going on, though not many people know that since they kept to themselves in Jyalb.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Humans: They don’t have a great view on most humans due to their extreme bigotry, as well as they tended to treat the centaurs like they were just horses.
