Carriages for centaurs
Humans have a weird relationship with centaurs despite having a similar ancestry, yet they tend to not view them as human enough to be treated differently from pets. It’s a major problem in Symilf especially, as nobles often adopt centaur organs just to raise them as pets. Because of this history nobles decided to invent a centaur-drawn carriage more focused on pulling people around rather than cargo.
Not only was it designed to pull people around, but some Silmfeins even turned it into a business, creating the first ever taxi service in Mirthae. Because the centaurs weren’t raised properly, many are unable to object to being used for labour like this, and those that do are severely punished. Some nobles even gag their centaurs just to keep them from protesting. Because of how they treat the centaurs, they made it so that they can’t undo the harnesses themselves, relying on others to do it for them.
Aside for the moon elves, most people of Symilf don’t actually see an issue with the way centaurs are treated and so haven’t really said much about the way they’re raised, stemming from their ignorance about other species. However, outside of Symilf, and especially in East Jyalb, people were horrified when finding out that centaur orphans were being raised a personal chauffeurs, causing massive unrest and even halt in the economy as those who traded with Symilf refused to until those with their unethical taxi businesses released the centaurs back to the orphanages they came from. Most didn’t, however, prompting Highking Chøke to make a law banning the practise of raising centaurs as pets. Though of course, it hasn’t stopped the ultra wealthy from bypassing the law through highly illegal trafficking rings and grooming the poor centaurs into accepting whatever role is given to them.
