Switzer
Switzers tend to be unique in most anything they do, although they're often referred to as 'common' for their history during the Societal Debates when Neo Terrans first came to the Alpha Avior System. Back then, the 'common man' were ignored until the Neutral Five spoke up on their behalf. While most Switzers can come from all walks of life in both Earth culture and out in the black, and the more common of them wore basic Shells, the modifications they've made since their original customization are extensive and unique, while still remaining mostly human in respect to who they used to be.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Although Terran Trade Standard is well-used and well-known among Switzers, you will generally find small family units using a much different dialect between themselves, much like on Earth. Generally, while you can might hear a mix of languages out in a public square of Switzers, each Switzer will know only a maximum of three languages: TTS, and up to two others kept private. These are generally people who left Earth together and never split up. There are a few who will know many more, as they left their old homes on the other planets of Alpha Avior and immigrated to Centauri.
Shared customary codes and values
To “remember where you come from” is a value written upon every Switzer’s programming, so that one doesn’t make the same mistake in forgetting about the life and integrity of their new homes like the mess they made of Earth. Although this is generally shared by the rest of Neo Terrans, Switzers take it a step further in that all of their businesses, home life, and life in general relish in reinforcing the values of the human condition.
Common Dress code
The dress code is “wear anything that you’re comfortable with.” That, coupled with the open door policy that welcomes all to Centauri, allows for very colorful and varied types of outfits to be seen all over the planet.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
The best thing about being a Switzer is that beauty, for them, relies on the virtue of “in the eye of the beholder.” Most Switzers were once apart of a different ethnicity—and with their change of location, so, too, did their ideals change. While others would base beauty on various measures of physical beauty, mental acuity, or capability, Switzers, instead, base their view of beauty as of the heart.
Gender Ideals
One of the few things that Switzers have in common with the rest of their species, gender neutrality is the norm.
Courtship Ideals
Typically, to woo a Switzer, you must be open and honest with them. Romantic gestures are welcome, but only if they are truly from the heart—a Switzer will prefer something small and meaningful rather than boastful and insincere. Marriage—or Partnership—is only really done for love between Switzers. Courtship generally lasts for more than five years.
Relationship Ideals
When in a relationship, they are hoping for the long-haul—at least twenty years or more of togetherness. Whether or not marriage is officially involved doesn’t matter in a Switzer’s eyes, as love and the heart shared between two people is the more important. They will stress the need for compromise and most values that humans deemed important. You don’t get married to a Switzer unless you’re in it for the long haul, as divorce is practically unheard of between them. Even then, it’s with disdain and a lack of understanding.
