Major language groups and dialects
Most Diadem companies of which the DeLux people live speak Terran Trade Standard as the norm, which is based on English. However, many of the main Earth languages such as Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Bengalese, and German are also known and spoken between certain partnerships and companies.
Shared customary codes and values
A Delux’s value is measured in their wealth, and their code in their business practices. Although they also value the wellbeing of their workers, this is more of a business standard rather than a personal value. The more wealth that is shown in their homes, business, or even on themselves, the more respect and deference will be shown by their fellows. Be careful, however: the same respect given can easily be taken away when one's back is turned.
Common Etiquette rules
A small bow as a greeting, along with a shaking of hands is usual. Waiting to speak until spoken to when among those higher in the hierarchy is shown all across Neo Terran society.
Common Dress code
On Diadem, either tight fabrics with colorful, flowing outer layers is the norm, if not wearing business suits or something of the sort. Because of the wealth the Delux had when leaving Earth for the Alpha Avior System, they were able to bring many items from Earth with them, such as precious metals and the even more precious wood and carefully preserved plants. Often before leaving Earth, the smallest of seeds, seedlings, and flowers were incorporated into jewelry, carefully encased in glass or artificial resin.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
To DeLuxes, or the majority of the people of Diadem, the epitome of beauty is having bodies taken to extremes while still being humanoid in face and mostly in limb. Facial features must be symmetrical, with long lashes and usually with high cheekbones and full lips. Showing off your wealth in the form of Earth jewels built into your body is ideal, an example being of freckles made of gold leaf and diamonds or another type of jewel built into your eyes.
Typically, the coloring of DeLuxes tend to be human-normal, ranging from pale to dark; however, there are some who have taken extremes on skin colors, as well. Usually, their skin will be a deep maroon or a royal purple, emphasized by gold or silver accents which are standard accents. Hair colors, however, can be anything as long as the colors don’t clash.
Body type tends to be androgynous, with flatter chests and slimmer hips, although shoulders can range from slim to broad more often than any other type of body. On that note, ‘weight’ standards end up being a healthy standard without exceptional amounts of muscle as in their society, muscle isn’t needed. The wealth you have built into your body is typically what you are judged on.
Gender Ideals
The ideal is fluidity, as ones body can be changed however one wants. When referring to someone, their entire culture has agreed that unless specifically stated, the standard pronouns to another should be ‘they/them.’ Gender neutrality has simply made things easier.
Courtship Ideals
Ostentatious gifts filled with jewels, pomp, and overly dramatic and romantic gestures are the norm. Very rarely is there a small, heartfelt gift, and only when a courtship is more than a merging of companies. On that note, beware of a Neo-Terran courting you: there is usually something you have that they want, and if you don't own the obvious (a company), it means that there is something else they'd partner with you to gain.
Relationship Ideals
Relationships tend to be a partnership between two businesses rather than done for love; and in the case of love, business is always a high consideration. Your chosen must have something to bring to your company, either in a physical way or an idea to enhance what is already there. In a world dependent upon economical choices and wealth, it is generally frowned upon to be together only for love—however if it is coupled with the above, it is acceptable.
