Coins

The currency of the Empire of Dercia can be split into three coins, all with a different level of value and made of a different material.   Foreign currency is typically also accepted in the empire. However, the Dercian merchants will typically demand a higher price if the buyer is thinking of paying in foreign currency, as these tend not to be seen as of the same value as Dercian coins.

Crown

The Crown is the coin in the empire with the highest value of each coin, with one crown equaling 10 Silver Pennies. The Crown is typically used by the upper middle classes and the upper class when these do their trading.   The Crown is made out of gold with a silver edge. On the edge is written the motto of the empire "Born in freedom, live in freedom, die for freedom." and is featuring an imperial eagle on one side and on the other side, one can find the motive of the current monarch of the empire, for the last 160 years Emperor Malthin II have featured on the coin.

Silver penny

Silver pennies are together with Marks the most common coin in the empire for most people, as most people will make around one silver penny each week. Most larger things will be priced in silver pennies, such as housing or for rural people, most will be able to buy a new cow for a handful of silver pennies. It also the coin people belonging to the Crienia will give to a newborn child as part of the Newborn Gold ritual.   Like the Crown, the silver penny will feature the face of the current monarch, although its also not uncommon that instead of the ruling monarch, it will be his or her partner that will feature on the coin, with the other side being taking up by the imperial eagle and motto.   As the name suggests, the silver pennies are made of silver, and one silver penny will equal 100 Mark or 1 Crown.

Mark

Mark is the lowest valued coin in the Dercian Empire; it's a coin made of bronze and, like the coins above, will feature the motive of the monarch and Imperial eagle.   While Silver pennies are the coinage that most larger transactions for the common people will be paid in, the mark is the coin that they will use to pay for everyday stuff such as food.
