Argent Material in Mirateia | World Anvil

Argent

The Argent is a name given to a specific type of tree that grows in certain parts of the Empire of Dercia , which is famous for its timber that is used as decorations in palaces and as support beams in buildings. What makes the Argent such a valued material is that the wood of the tree grows as hard as stone and requires specific axes to fell a tree due to the toughness, the axes can only be used on roughly two trees before they need replacement, but due to this toughness of the timber, the Argent are sought after by architects for use as pillars instead of marble. Since the timber is as tough as the stone, it can still be decorated in the same style as marble.   Unlike many other trees, the tree that the Argent comes from can not be grown in plantages and have to be found in the wild, but even this doesn't stop people from helping these trees grow and spread, and the Eglia people have cultivated these trees for generations since they settled down in the dense forests of the Empire.   The forests that grow Argent will also be home to many creatures and beings that finds protection and solace in the forests. Many of these creatures are drawn to the energies that permeate the forests and will make their homes amount the trees, especially the woodland spirits seems to like living among the branches of the Argent trees.
