Session 22
Four days of travel on the Century Sparrow have passed and the floating island of Vandrbjod lay in front of them. A pride of griffins passed over them, ignoring the heavily modified airship approaching from below. The vessel did a few reconnaissance passes around the island, while looking for a safe spot to drop off the Party. This was not the first time Merimas Stumbletoe had done this kind of work. Merimas identified a spot to hide while the Party continued their adventure and made arrangements to send an owl once they were done.
The Party entered the pitch black cave; Typhon cast his Light cantrip, illuminating the immediate area and revealing little of interest. Some exploration into the cave and they encountered a pair of exquisitely carved statues of adventurers. They appeared to be locked in combat against an unseen foe. In the next cavern, the sounds of drinking and hissing could be heard through the darkness. As the Party approached, a pair of basilisks emerged! They failed to turn Sir Didymus to stone, only to be slaughtered quickly by the group. A quick search of the area revealed a handful of silver pieces and bones scattered throughout. No doubt the remains of the aforementioned adventurers.
A pale green light shone through one of the narrow passages as the Party continued their exploration of the cave network. As soon as they made their way through, a trio of flameskulls turned their attention to the group. The fighting was fierce, and the flameskulls proved themselves more than adept at casting spells, including magic missile. But eventually, the Party won, and Sir Didymus's wolf even ate the remains of a flameskull.
The Party continued to scour the cave network until they came across an old wooden ladder and a number of old surveying equipment left behind. The ladder ascended into an upper level of the cave which the Party took cautiously.
The second level was just as dark and dreary. It would soon prove itself to be just as dangerous as the Party soon came across a pack of nothics...
