The Spectral Hero is the divine form of
Steven. He was immortalized by the Creator,
Notch, in order to seek out the next hero to stand up to
Entity 303. After this, the Creator then passed on his title onto the Spectral Hero, making him the new Creator. After searching for nearly a hundred years, he chose a young boy named
David to carry on his legacy and trained him for years to become the next hero to surpass him.
After David grew into a man and traveled across time after Entity 303, the Spectral Hero challenged David for a final duel to determine whether his training had been treasured, and was defeated. He then informed the young hero that the torch had been passed and it was now his duty to guide the world in a better direction and ensure that peace and prosperity returned. After David defeated
Null, the Destroyer, and by extension Entity 303, the Spectral Hero disappeared, and his whereabouts are unknown, although it is believed that he is finally at peace.
In one of three multiversal timelines, the Spectral Hero makes a reappearance in his Celestial form to challenge Evil Lily, the child possessed by Null and controlled by the Reader. He fights with everything he has, but ultimately is defeated. However, he gets back up, empowered by the spirits of all Lily has killed in her quest to eliminate all life and continues to fight against her in an even more intense battle. After his final attempt, he is either successful in killing Lily or is defeated once again and melts away upon his death.
Passed the torch onto the next generation of heroes.
In one of four multiverses, he fails to defeat Evil Lily.

History
The Spectral Hero first appeared before David in his dreams when he was nine. From the lesson he had taught David, the boy was able to win a match against then-village-bully Drake in a 1-on-1. From then on, he has appeared in David's dreams almost every night to train him new techniques for taking on enemies over the course of nine years.

David is often called a silverfish by the Spectral Hero, as a way of conveying how the Spectral Hero sees him as a student, while David often calls him Master, as he looks up at his mentor.

History
Alex doesn't find out about the Spectral Hero until she learns that he had been training David to become the next hero for humanity. She knows that the Spectral Hero is the spirit of her brother, and once David's journey throughout time ends and Minecraftia begins its new era of long-lasting peace, she speaks to the sky, telling how she had a feeling her brother wouldn't have let death stop him from fulfilling his final task, calling her brother wonderfully stubborn. She then says that Steven had done well, and that he could now rest in peace.
