Clockwork Technology

Prior to the Convergence, great advances occurred in Geography, Astronomy, chemistry, physics, mathematics, anatomy and engineering. While sheltered though, most of that knowledge was lost by the people, so the rediscovery of these scientific texts and contraptions often leads to leaps in technological advancement, such as the rediscovery of Airships by the Fensalir, which entirely reshaped their way of life. But, at the same time, these discoveries can lead to scientific backwardness.


As post convergence comes to rely on technology that they do not know how to fix or how it operates in the first place, most broken machines are hardly, if ever, repaired. As such, engineers, alchemists and other scientists are in high demand. The biggest exception to this rule are The Realms of Shona and Tuatha Dé Danann, the Woodfolk of Tuatha de Dánann having turned their backs to technology entirely and the Desertfolk of Shona having lived through the Convergence comparatively unscathed in their large cities protected by arcane power. If anyone from outside Shona Society ever were to step into Nkonkoni, their eyes would probably roll over in awe.
