Beast Folk
Beast Folk is an umbrella term used for the multitude of animal-hybrid species that litter Midterra. These creatures vary in size and sub-species, they are relatively new like their human counterparts. Not much is known about these folk, but it is said that they were created during the Conjunction of Realms when Midterra briefly crossed paths with another world. Although not cataloged, it can be safely assumed that there is a Beast Folk equivalent to any animal you may find out in the wild. Beast Folk keep to themselves mostly in small communities, but are known to occasionally venture out to other races for trade and such. However if found out in the wild, they are most commonly mistaken as wild animals and consequently either hunted down or warded off.

Most Beast Folk share similar attributes to humans and elves. They are commonly bi-pedal with arms and such, yet will occasionally mutate into quad-pedal or aquatic types. No matter the gene pool they come from, they all share human qualities and their respective animal anatomy.

Additional Information
Social Structure
Beast Folk don't have any sort of social protocol outside of survival. If they do create a community, they are generally small and tight knit. Commonly of the same sub-species as well.
Domestication
Occasionally small groups of Beast Folk as well as wandering individuals will find themselves confronted with a less than hospitable group. Commonly, those unfortunate enough to be caught by such beings find themselves as slaves. Since they share an animal ancestry they prove to be strong workers and excellent slaves due to their docile nature.

Common Myths and Legends

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Beast Folk are wary of other races, especially monster types. They don't make contact with the outside world often, and when they do its on their accord after a long observation period. They view the majority of other sentient life as threats, but a threat better avoided.
