The motivation behind building Midterra
I wanted to build a new world that was wholly populated by my friends. The shells and hollow container that I have built should be filled with the actions of the players' adventures. In doing so, the world begins to feel more fleshed out and completely custom to our liking.
Theme
Genre
Think early 14th century technology in a Witcher/Elder Scrolls style theme. Of course, some elements of steampunk culture bleed into the world through the workings of the Gnomes and their crazy advanced technologies. Magic, artifacts, creation, exploration, and war!
Focus
Drama
The elves and dwarves really dislike each other. The constant wars and betrayal probably don't have anything to do with it though, I'm sure.
Humans begin to build up their society after claiming their freedom from the slavery at the hands of the elves. At the same time, they are repelling a massive threat of the Army of Ran Gor. Not exactly opportune.
An evil entity has been accounted moving through the land. It brings chaos and disease wherever it goes. Is it acting alone?
