Summary

Historical Legends

Not all worshippers adhere to the common deities or celestial objects, some do look up to the historical or legendary figures and find inspiration amongst them.

Moonshard

Those who tolerate no weaknesses are themselves the weakest.
Moon dragon mother, believed by many of her followers to be still alive, hiding and watching over her children. This dragoness was the queen of Moon dragons before the Battle for Midrast, but no records about her fate or whereabouts have been found after.

Followers

Revered primarily by Mud dragons as a mother of them all. The influence of her followers gradually spreads over to other races such as Jungle dragons and Water dragons.

In art

Depicted as hornless, pure black dragoness with white stripes running along her sides and wings and a blue aura around her. Her expression tends to be kind, smiling, protective or loving. She is very rarely depicted in combat or anguish.

Tyrth

My kin will be the rulers of this world
Sun dragon warrior and leader that lead his people against the remains of Moon dragons. Died under mysterious circumstances but his Dreams are believed to still be present and infuse those worthy with strength to face their challenges.

Followers

Zealously worshipped by Air dragons as an Allfather of all Air dragons. Very rarely revered by other races.

In art

Depicted with a crown of horns upon his head, generally rearing up or standing on his hindlegs and looking down upon the viewer with white or golden eyes.

Stormreign

Fires will never be defeated, as long as one of us still draws breath.
Fire dragon leader who rebelled against her elders and lead fellow young dragons against Mud dragons who at the time were occupying their territory. Died under the claws of Mud dragon assassins as she didn't stop after liberating her own lands but lead her people into the Mud dragon lands.

Followers

Her story inspires many young dragons, especially amongst Fire dragons and while she has no direct worshippers, many - such as Charhorn - have vowed to follow in her footsteps.

In art

Stormreign has passed away almost 200 years ago, so her appearance is very well documented. Her hide was orange-red, with grey underside and wing-arms, feet and tailtip. The long snout was dominated by a pair of emerald green eyes. Generally is depicted leading a charge from the air or on the ground against Mud dragons despite records from the era suggesting she rarely took part in direct fighting.

Deity/Celestial objects

To a lesser extent, everyone worships these three Deities. Maybe some not in extravagant fashion, but the proof of their power is apparent to everyone and as such, is also respected by everyone.

Moons

Seek out your own way. Cherish differences.
Bolo and Natrash are the two pure white moons orbiting the world of Midrast Wain, their significance towards the behavior of animals, plants and intelligent races being attributed to divine powers of these Celestial objects.

Primary followers

It is primarily revered by Nocturnal gryphons, who generally function when the dusk hits and they rise from slumber. For them, the two Moons are a married couple who travel on their own across the star-lit sky yet still meet intimately once in every 88 days when both moons are full.

Other followers

Jungle dragons and Water dragons also revere the two Moons, yet for them, it is because of the frolicking the gathering night represents and the rise in fertility Water dragons experience as a result of Chase.

Symbolism

Moons symbolize the domain of secrets, honoring the dead, memory, revelries, sea currents and rituals. As such, Hunters, Dreamweavers, Dreamgliders, Scouts and Couriers as well as artists or young dragons seeking to impress the one they love take part in worshipping the Moons and wearing jewelry made in the shape of the two moons.

Sun's Grace

All good deeds are performed under the watchful gaze of Sun
Sun is the bringer of inspiration, healing, and rewards. His light shines upon all corners of the world and bring warmth, tranquility and certainty that one can trust what he sees be true and reveals what is hidden. The significance of its immense power to shine so brightly and everywhere without fail has been attributed to the divine powers of Sun's Grace, the Divine Rooster.

Followers

It is primarily revered by Diurnal gryphons and Air dragons, both of which attribute its powers of healing, light and power to a godlike entity that silently watches over them and sometimes reveals to them some of its secrets or guides them to safety in dangerous situations.

Symbolism

Sun symbolizes the domain of awakening, life, healing, truth, knowledge and hope and as such is generally revered by Greencarers, Clawstoppers, Wingbinders, Leaders, Purveyors as well as young couples raising their offspring.

Storm of Fates and Paths

Paths are always clear. Obstacles are merely tests of our resolve.
Storm is the most important Deity of all species that fly, for a pleasant current under one's wings can make travel a comfortable and quick experience, yet a thunderstorm filled with rain and lightning can quickly bring any thoughts of travel to an end. As such, many have taken to worshipping and offering sacrifices to this fickle deity and its immense power to either help or destroy.

Followers

It is primarily revered by those that travel often, so Purveyors, Scouts, Couriers and Hunters all wish each other "fair winds" as parting words, for nothing is more important than being able to fly quickly and safely. Most commonly spread amongst Gryphons in the center of The Continent.

Symbolism

Wind symbolizes the domain of change, speed, travel, favorable weather, passing of time, growing up, new experiences and discovery.
Becoming an adult is generally connected with passing through a storm of conflicting emotions and doubt, and so many seek the blessing of the Wind through this period. Additionally, those that form non-intimate companionship with their comrades - whether it is a brotherly bond, ties between fellow warriors or individuals performing the same profession. Those that stand together through hardships and revere the Wind will always come out on top, stronger than ever before.

Deities

Worship of some of these deities are tied to a specific culture, type of profession or race, while others may be more spread out across the Continent. Their teachings may sometimes be very stark and contrasting, so it is not very common to have a single individual worshipping more than two of these.

Lawmaster/Lawmistress

No one stands above the law. Justice will be swift.
Lawmaster rules over domains of law, order, justice and fair usage of power for the punishment of the wicked. Many Clawstoppers dub themselves to be the Lawmaster's claws - those that bring troublemakers and criminals to be judged, whereas those in the position of power and especially Dreamweavers are the ones who bring forth judgment on those that failed to adhere to order.

Followers

Revered by Dreamweavers, Clawstoppers, Nobles and Leaders, Lawmaster's race, sex and appearance is generally unknown and tends to be interpreted differently by worshipping races in question.

In art

Generally depicted as a figure covered in a dark cloak covered from head to the foretalons, covering all its features aside from a pair of yellow, judgmental eyes peering from beneath the cloak and sharp white foretalons peeking from underneath the cloak.

Sightings

Those that claim to have seen him or her describe a figure that disappears as soon as you focus your eyes on them, but you can barely see them, just out of the corner of the eye.

Dreambringer

Strive to leave each place happier than it was before you
Dreambringer rules the domain of following your heart, mischief, ambition, art, music and creativity. It is the cornerstone of Dreambringer's teachings to treat others with kindness and make as many dragons around you happier than they were before you met them. Everyone deserves to live happily. The facet of Dreambringer gryphons revere is generally depicted as a playful Wild cat in the middle of a pounce.

Followers

Revered by Songweavers, Dreamgliders, Purveyors, Servants, actors and troublemakers, Dreambringer is drawn as an adorable dragonet of undefined sex with delighted and happy expression.

In art

It is believed that Dreambringer loves to make its appearance whenever there is a grumpy leader in charge to play a trick on them and brighten the day of everyone involved. It is drawn to be in vibrant colors or pure white with wide sky blue eyes.

Sightings

Those that claim to have seen Dreambringer swear that it was the happiest moment of their entire life, even if they don't exactly remember much from it aside from the sensation.

Bluemother

Fight for the land and the land will fight with you.
Bluemother rules the domain of nature, fertility, family, civilization, fishing, hunting and strength in working together. Many young couples, expecting mothers pray to Bluemother to have their clutches safely delivered and hatched. To some, Bluemother is just a facet of Moonshard, yet most prefer to keep the two deities separate. There is no greater dishonor than to kill an animal and let its meat go to waste or to disregard thanking the Bluemother properly after a successful hunt. For as much as she can favor the dragon and gryphonkind, invoking her wrath can bring about illnesses, starvation and epidemics.

Followers

Revered primarily by Hunters and Greencarers, Bluemother is an endlessly long serpent that maintains the balance of nature and gives birth to the many creatures of the world.

In art

Generally is depicted as a blue serpent coiling and wrapping around herself while only a profile of her muzzle is visible. Many Hunters and Greencarers also make pendants or bracelets blue in her visage.

Sightings

Those that claim to have seen Bluemother have always been close to a water's surface and only after they consumed a dose of "special" tea. Oddly enough, all reported cases only involved males.

Strife

Strength is born of struggle.
Ruling over the domain of adaptation, suffering, improvement and struggling. Strife wishes his followers to not take the easy paths but to learn from hardships and to teach others by example. His followers generally tend to form only small groups and challenge each other in small temples dedicated to fighting and endurance. There is no greater dishonor in the eyes of Strife than to live a comfortable life on behalf of someone else's blood and sweat.

Followers

Revered primarily by Fire dragons, where the deity garnered a great following. Clawstoppers, adventurers, travelers or even outcasts who wish to follow the difficult path of self-improvement make their pleas towards this Ashen black dragon god.

In art

Strife's appearance is usually captured of that of a gaunt black male dragon that is nearly unhealthily lithe, no eyes but two empty eye sockets gazing off into the distance or on other dragons in the same painting and goat-like horns. The ground around him is bleak and ashen. He is not meant to be a welcome sight, yet he would never directly kill anyone. Strife's followers tend to use various tattoos extensively.

Sightings

Those that claim to have met with Strife commented that he has never directly communicated with them. He never spoke. He never moved, simply stared at them and yet they could perfectly understand what was the God's will. Some even less reliable sources coming from pregnant dragonesses also claim that Strife himself have visited them at their homes, yet none of these dragonets have ever hatched with any remarkable coloration or abilities. It is generally accepted that these stories are made up.

Perseverance

They do not fear us, they fear what we represent
She rules over the domain of hope, endurance and death. Her followers tend to be mostly introverted, stoic and compassionate, offering prayers for those that died and easing the pain of those that still live by offering physical and spiritual comfort. Where one's own strength no longer suffices, where fate deals dreams that are cruelly torn asunder, there is also Perseverance and her entourage of dragons willing to help those in peril. There is no greater dishonor in the eyes of Perseverance than causing pain to innocents, stealing from poor and needless cruelty. Yet despite that, her domain is that of death primarily, and it is also her position that helps the Dreams of dying dragons find their ancestors and wait for an opportunity to infuse new young dragons with strength to carry on and guide them.

Followers

Revered primarily by Fire dragons and Jungle dragons, where the deity garnered a great following. Wingbinders, the sick, the elderly and the ill tend to pray towards the Perseverance as well as Clawstoppers before they depart to battle. No matter how old or young, everyone's prayers are welcome by the red and grey old-dragoness with magnificently long golden horns.

In art

Perseverance is generally captured as a red and grey old-dragoness with magnificently long golden horns striding across Wingbinder dens and battlefields, helping wounded, injured and dying with patient and caring smile, assuring them that their Dreams will live on.

Sightings

Almost exclusively, all sources speaking of Perseverance come from dragons that were on the cusp of death but were brought back to life. All of them describe some variation of a calming presence with a patient smile and their desire to join it and go towards the light behind its form. All dragons that experienced this meeting have changed their behavior dramatically after they re-awakened.
