Shinsoo Sickness

A condition known to mainlanders as resulting from exposure to highly concentrated Shinsoo. The lucky ones will revert to normal after a few days rest in areas of lower Shinsoo density. The unlucky ones may become permanently crippled, or even mutated, if they survive at all.

Causes

Prolonged exposure to high density Shinsoo areas, typically found withing The Forest depths.

Symptoms

Early symptoms exhibit accumulation of fatigue, a general feeling of being sickened, feelings of sluggishness, delayed reactions, and difficulty controlling magic. Later symptoms can be exhibited in severe fatigue, inability to move properly, crushed limbs, internal bleeding, and inability to control magic. Left untreated, physical mutations can occur, and eventually, death.

Treatment

Leaving the region of high Shinsoo density and resting for a few days is usually sufficient for mild symptoms. Additional treatments on a case-by-case basis may be required for more severe symptoms.

Cultural Reception

Light symptoms are a generally accepted part of society that favors Forest exploration. They may even be sympathetic towards those with more permanent damage from it. However, some factions that view Forest exploration with disdain, such as the Church of Clear Skies, will likely spurn those who exhibit any symptoms, and treat those with more permanent damage with contempt.
