Adimus Markers
An adimus marker is a unique type of energy contained in the adimus. It’s placed there by an external force, though in general, the person must allow it. Markers can be placed on anyone within mentant range of the person, though the farther away they are, the more difficult it becomes. In general, there is a finite amount of people one can place a marker on and this is governed by their active learning memory. There are several types of adimus markers but the most common are communication and quickener.
Communication Markers
This is the name for a generic mentus marker that most people can perform on others. It’s what allows people to telepathically communicate across long distances, usually several miles as long as there is no quartz barrier. The marker allows you to distinguish one person from the hundreds or thousands of others that are visible at any given time in the mentant realm. A communication marker can also be used to physically find that person. Most communication markers will wear off naturally after several weeks unless actively renewed, but they can be forcibly removed by either party.Quickener Connections
This type of marker can only be placed by quickener mentus and it is permanent unless forcibly removed by either party, or if the quickener staff runs out of connections and starts removing the oldest ones. A quickener connection is a type of dimensional bond reinforced by the staff, so it is visible to the quickener even if the target is far away or within a quartz barrier. Though they won't be able to communicate or quicken to someone behind a barrier, in almost all cases they’ll still be able to sense them, no matter how far away the target is. A quickener connection can be active or dormant. An active connection is one that has been used in the past several minutes, though it can last up to an hour. Once the connection is active, the quickener can usually quicken and communicate with the target without their explicit consent. A dormant connection allows the quickener to see the target, quicken to their location (if they are not behind a quartz barrier), or briefly communicate with them (known as a reverse call), but they can’t quicken or communicate fully with the target until the connection is made active. This can be done by the quickener if the target is within their mentant range, or by quickener call if the target is not in range.Sensant Marker
This type of marker can only be placed by sensant mentus. A sensant marker does not require consent and cannot usually be felt. It is also permanent. In addition, a sensant can easily put a marker on anyone or everyone within their range without any upper boundary or limits. Markers can be temporary or permanent and they can even be generated automatically. For example, if a sensant makes a conscious decision to mark anyone wearing a specific color, the marker will happen automatically for them as long as the person wearing that color is within their mentant range. Sensant markers can also be based on any of the person’s natural senses. Sensant markers cannot be used to communicate with the target, they can only be used to locate and identify them. Because of how a sensant’s brain is wired and their specific mentus, they are able to easily locate anyone within their mentant range, which is significantly wider than a normal mentant’s. They also can mentally classify and sort the hundreds of markers they have at any given time.Understanding The Adimus
