Hawk

One of the surviving members of a reclusive druid cult that lived in the Kossenwoods before the Starvation. Hawk, like his two companions, assumed a twisted form reminiscent of his favored wildshape when he became his mask.   Hawk is the most silent of the Three Hunters and often serves as something akin to a leader, insofar as the other two will listen to any ego besides their own. He is difficult to communicate with and his quiet reserve has often tricked desperate wanderers into believing he could be reasoned with or appealed to. Unfortunately for them, Hawk is as bloodthirsty as his companions and perhaps even more dangerous for his focused intensity.   Though he spends much of his time perched in the branches of the massive trees of the Bone Forest, when the hunt is afoot Hawk soars high above the canopy, his senses supernaturally attuned to the otherwise impenetrable darkness. When he finds his prey he prefers to stun it by diving from high in the sky and slamming into it with bone breaking force. Thereafter he picks it apart slowly with beak and talons, avoiding major organs and veins to keep it alive as long as possible. The last vision in the eyes of his prey, if there is light nearby to illuminate the scene, is Hawk's beak descending to pluck them out.

Physical Description

Body Features

Though Hawk is the smallest of the trio, his 14' wingspan can be most intimidating. When standing near an average sized humanoid, Hawk can spread his wings so wide that he fills his victim's vision from side to side, seeming to blot out everything but himself.   Hawk's feathers are dark brown and cover his entire body except for his human arms and legs, which possess normal human hair.

Special abilities

Formerly a druid, Hawk is one of the few creatures left on Maverot that can tolerate the nightmarish corruption that accompanies the working of natural magics. Though he can no longer change his shape via wildshaping, Hawk hardly misses it. His new form is precisely to his liking.

Specialized Equipment

Hawk carries little equipment, as it interferes with his ability to fly if he is too laden. Primarily he ties small trinkets or fetishes from his kills to his arms and legs such as a tuft of hair, a string with teeth strung on it, or small pendants of woven sinew and bone. The only weapon he ever deigns to use is a bola, which he always throws from the farthest possible range. As this is only for sport, he rarely attacks once the prey has tripped. Instead he circles lazily overhead until they have freed themselves and resumes the hunt when they run. He has grown careful about doing this when he suspects Hound or Croc is around, since they love to provoke him by stealing his kill once it is ensnared.
