Garomen Sea Geographic Location in Masters of Illuria | World Anvil

Garomen Sea

Once called the ‘Garomen Plains’, this was a wide grassland and savanna dotted with numerous mesas capped with thick stands of trees. The plains were bordered by the River of Stars to the North and West, the Ellione Mountains to the East, and the thick Fang Forest to the South. This region stood the test of time for many thousands of years. Home to the proud taren peoples, then later the nation of Balad, it was considered one of the greater jewels of Illuria.

The Dark Horde, and then the Collapse, changed that.

During the upheaval of the Collapse, earthquakes shifted the Ellione Mountains releasing an immense underground waterway. This spilled out in the plains and joining with the River of Stars. The plains were permanently submerged under the flood, becoming an inland sea and destroying the nation of Balad. Survivors fled to the mesas, restarting their lives there as an island culture.

Today, this region is called the Garomen Sea. To the East is still the Ellione Mountains, the South is the remains of the Fang Forest, now nestled as a part of the Sulin Mouintains. On the West, the sea extends to the shore of the Elinvae forest. On the North, the Garomen Sea spreads to the Huin Badlands.
