Vesogoth

Vesogoth was initially a day laborer from a distant town, until the plague wiped out the town he was working in and, for some reason he survived. He believes that the wooden holy symbol he was wearing protected him, so he gathered the valuables from the dead to sell in Markwald, and he has done this a couple of time in other overrun areas.   He was eventually drawn to the town of Wunschau, which had recently been taken over by Flagellants. Given its unstable situation and its newfound religious fervor, he figured it would be a good place to ply his trade. He made a partially rebuilt but abandoned abbey his base, and there he met a friar who was involved in the rebuilding effort until his own calling took him away from Wunschau for an extended period. The friar was part of a band of travelers who were involved in an effort to right wrongs and to restore the land, so Vesogoth joined them. As they were no longer welcome in Wunschau, they traveled to Rotz, where they met a knight who agreed to make Vesogoth his squire in order to enter him in an archery tournament. There, Vesogoth was soundly beaten, and, angry at the outcome, he decided to rob the shooter who vanquished him. He was promptly caught, branded, and exiled. His new companions refused to help or follow him, as his decision to steal from his opponent made them look bad by association.
