Franz Schwarzhoffen family

Franz's  family consists of his father Reinhardt, mother Adele, and two younger brothers - Manfred and Rudolf, 16, both 20-ish.   Reinhardt is a former member of the Wunschau militia who was involved in a war against the forces of the neighboring Landgraf of Greifswald. He lost his brother Adolf in that conflict. After returning, he took up a job as a plague doctor, and began to encourage his sons to follow in his footsteps, largely to keep them out of the military. He was successful, with the exception of Franz. While thus employed, he became acquainted with Ruprecht the Sexton, who used to come around sharing stories about the Sensenmann with the family.   Shortly after the Plague struck, Manfred, the middle son, fell prey to it, and nearly died. He survived, but never regained consciousness. The family seeks some way to revive him, but thus far, with no success. Franz's companions stayed in the house with them shortly after Ruprecht's disappearance, and attempted to diagnose and revive Manfred. Aside from Basil's contention that Manfred was cursed on account of love, there is no indication as to what ails him.    The parents are a relatively typical urban couple. Reinhardt is authoritative and public-minded. He says that they attend Church regularly, but does not pay special attention to the prayers. He has a deep voice. Adele keeps a nice home, and is a stickler for propriety. Rudolf is a typical youngest son who is close to his brothers, but apparently not privy to any secrets. The family is not particularly well-off.
