Alfred

Alfred is a human child who appears to be around three years old. Until recently, he lived at Boar's Pit Keep with a number of elves that he considered his "people". Alfred didn't recognize himself as human, and thought he was one of the elves. He claimed that he used to go through the conduit to Schwarzalbenheim to collect mushrooms.
Alfred came to the attention of the questing party when the elves at the Temple of Teeth suggested that Franz needed to kill the child he was replaced for as his trial for initiation into the community of elves. Franz was skeptical of the scheme, but the elves explained that Franz had to prove that he could break with the human world. Along with his companions, Franz did travel to the Boar's Pit Keep, where they discovered Alfred alone. As he later said, his people told him that the keep was about to come under attack by humans and dark elves. They left him with some wondrous items so he could defend himself. Alfred was nearly killed by Franz's companions, by Franz ended up knocking him out. 
After much convincing, Alfred agreed to accompany the party to the Pool of Insight, where he could use a magical pearl he had been given to learn about his true origin. Based on what the elves told him, Franz believed that Alfred was born at roughly the same time as him, which would make him over 20 years old in Mittelheim. While at the pool, the party was attacked by a magical fish (catching which constituted Eddi's). During the commotion, as the party was enveloped by a strange mist, Alfred disappeared. Divination revealed that Alfred was taken by Edelweiss.  
He has not been located since. After the return to the Keep, Franz also disappeared, possibly to search for the child he had begun to think of as his brother. Additionally, after returning the keep, the party met Nit, another human, who had wandered into Albenheim after following a child who roughly matched Alfred's description. She thought he was in need of rescuing, and she considered raising him as a member of her troupe. Based on what Alfred told the party earlier, however, he was probably not in Mittelheim at the time.
