Goblings
Goblings, or in some dialects Goblin's, are short, long-eared, beings reminiscent of Orcish children if they walked upright on land. Gob means Half in Old Orcish and Goblings share their origin, and curse, with the Halflings.
Each Gobling has a counterpart, born around the same time and possessing the other half of their soul. These counterparts may live wholly other lives, may develop very different personalities, but when they're together they just slot together perfectly, knowing exactly what the other might say or think. Gobling's half-souls makes their connection with the Hours weaker, so they tend to think of aspects in a more practical, less clerical way.
If a Gobling's counterpart dies, the surviving one's health and spirit rapidly degrades, and they will die shortly after. If the proper funerary rights are administered their two half-souls will be reunited as one in the Hours.
Goblings, much like Orcs, are amphibious and spend their early years in an aquatic child form. To increase the chance of finding counterparts, Goblings travel far to birth their young at a small number of Gobling nurseries, where they will develop alongside many other Gobling children born around the same time and from a wide area. For this reason most Goblings find their counterpart in childhood and spend their lives as matched pairs, completely inseperable from one another.
Goblings possess the carniverous hunger of Orcs, but their half-souls makes it harder to reign in. This has given them a reputation for a veracious and unusual pallete.
