Halflings
Halflings are about the height of Dwarves, but lack their stockiness, looking more like human children. Their name is quite literal, they trace their ancestory to a line of Humans cursed to have their souls split between two lives. They share this curse with the Goblings.
Each Halfling has a counterpart, born around the same time and possessing the other half of their soul. These counterparts may live wholly other lives, may develop very different personalities, but when they're together they just slot together perfectly, knowing exactly what the other might say or think. Many Halflings make it a goal in life to find their counterpart and take to travelling. This idea, that any other Halfling could be a counterpart, makes most halflings quite affable to one another.
If a Halfling's counterpart dies, the surviving one's health and spirit rapidly degrades, and they will die shortly after. If the proper funerary rights are administered their two half-souls will be reunited as one in the Hours.
Halfling's half-souls makes their connection with the Hours weaker, so they tend to think of aspects in a more practical, less clerical way. Due to these half-souls Halflings have difficulty reigning in the Human hunger for security, they tend to be vermently protective of that which they have and fear losing property, family and stability.
