House of Games

The House of Games is the headquarters of the Manifold Triortan League located in Kalqa. As the governing rules body for Triortan, the MTL takes stewardship of the game very seriously, and the House of Games is the perfect place from which to pursue this ideal.

Architecture

The House of Games is a square three-story building nestled in the saddle between the central mountain and one of the lower mountains of Kalqa. The second and third floors overhang the first floor all the way around, forming a shaded walking path to the building's foyer at the front and the sand pit for outdoor activities at the back. This overhang matches the height of the roofs on the island's municipal covered walkway system, blending into it so that pedestrians can easily reach the facility.   A blend of modern and classical styles, the main structure of the House of Games is comprised of large bricks encased in white stucco. Large, carved wooden columns rise up to support the upper floor before splitting in half lengthwise to form the facade all the way to the eaves of the shallow inverted gable roof. The interior is also of a classic style, with low furniture and floors designed to be comfortable to sit on so as to get beneath the oppressive summer humidity.   The first floor of the building is divided by a corridor that runs from a comfortable lobby at the front of the building to a ritual space at the back. The ritual space is dedicated to the Esotericist ancestral patron Vexan Zin, who is widely believed to be the father of the game. Another hallway runs orthogonal to the corridor leading to the small private game rooms to the left and the two exibition halls at the right. These exhibition halls are used for major events, such as tournament finals, as well as public demonstrations and teaching events, while the rest are open for reservation by the public. When people in Kalqa talk about going to the House of Games without further clarificaiton, they are usually referring to partaking in activities on this floor.   The second floor of the facility features a small library, the offices of the MTL Archivist, and a museum space dedicated to the history of Triortan. Visitors can gain entry to the museum for a nominal fee and the library for a premium; locals get discounts and the guests of League-recognized professionals recieve free admission passes. Important artifacts relating to the game of Triortan and adjacent historical events are kept on display here if there is room, but other pieces are kept in basement storage or, more often, loaned out for display in other galleries on Kalqa.   The third floor houses the administrative offices of the Manifold Triortan League, including meeting spaces for negotiating with the representatives of prospective venues, sponsors, and broadcasters. This part of the building is restricted to employees only.
