Soyolyn Surguuli

Overview

Soyolyn Surguuli is the Khün Bür Sur School in Salaangol. It is best known for its focus on the culture and history of the nations south of the moutains. However it also has a strong focus on its philosophy and technology programs.

Notables

Headmaster

Nurmangoly is the headmaster of Soyolyn Surguuli. He is an old teacher and administrator who has been at the school near his entire life. His life project was this very encyclopedia! He still strives to make a compendium of the natural world and all of its history.

Dorm Master

Nashman is the dorm master and one of the culture teachers of Soyolyn Surguuli. During Uulyn Bayar he is one of the supervisors for the students. He asks students to be with him for 4 hours a day during the outing to teach and test them on cultural knowledge. Outside of that is very hands-off, letting everyone have their fun and considers them essentially adults.

Courses

Culture

The culture program at Soyolyn focuses on the various cultures in the world, their religions, ethnicities, rulers, traditions, and histories. The different courses focus on the ruling families and key figures of the different parts of the world. This programs is considered the top cultural program of all of the Khün Bür Sur Schools.
The students in this program are well travelled and visit various locations in the world as part of their study. This has caused Olon Uuloin Oran to become very culturally accepting. It is common to see lots of diverse culture in the province, even if there is not anyone originally from that culture living there.
There are five core focuses in the culture program: modern culture, theology, history, politics, and language.

Philosophy

Philosophy is a major focus of all Khün Bür Sur Schools. The Khünd Ajil love to debate the meaning of life and how it relates to morality and ethics. All students must complete a handful of philosophy courses regardless of their major.
The three main focuses of philosophy are moral philosophy, physics, and metaphysics.

Technology

Soyolyn is known as having one of the stronger technology programs among the Khün Bür Sur Schools. This focus has helped Olon Uuloin Oran develop its strong mining and transportation tradition. The program focuses on natural resources, production, farming, architecture, transportation, and metalurgy.

Other

Soyolyn also offers programs in military, magic, and liberal arts. However, it is not well know for any of these programs. The courses largely go over high level theory. If a student is particularly gifted in this area, they either go through more of an apprenticeship system with a techer or are recommeded to transfer to one of the schools that have a stronger focus on their program.
For military, the courses offered are on military engineering, siege warfare, field warfare, command, and basic martial training.
For magic, the two courses offered are on the history of magic and the applications of magic.
For liberal arts, the courses offered on arithmetic, music, geometry, grammar, rhetoric, astronomy, and logic.
