Telestanni
During the Sundered Age, a large group of pilgrims devoted to three Gods: Hysterion, Slagemon, and Karak-Ul banded together in search of a new home. As the legend goes, after many years of wandering, the three high priests of the group were visited by a heavenly vision. The vision, in the guise of a flaming bird of prey, beckoned them to plot the course of their journey along the rising of the sun each morning. After nearly a month a following this course the pilgrims discovered a pass into the Curtain Veil Mountains one morning at dawn. After making their way through the narrow pass they came upon a beautiful mountain meadow in the shadow of Mt. Telestia and have since made it their permanent home. The valley they named the Sunrise Vale in honor of their pilgrimage. The land they named Telestine.
The Telestanni, as they now call themselves, are made up of three main groups:
The Equusentinels – Descendants of the original pilgrims devoted to Hysterion, the Equusentinels are paladins and priests that make and uphold the laws of the community. They also comprise a large part of the Telestanni militia. They are so named for their role as riders and guardians of the pegasi that still roam in and around Telestine.
The Karak-Ki – Normally peaceful and artful, these descendants of the pilgrims of Karak-Ul are responsible for much of upkeep and daily chores within the vale and on the mountain. When necessary this brotherhood is also capable fighters. Without weapons, they fight in styles inspired by many of the beasts within the vale and in the surrounding plains of the Shetsarim Confederates. Other than the pegasi, the Karak-ki have also domesticated many other beasts, such as the Telestian Mountain goats, which are used for healthy amounts of manual labor on the mountain side.
The Infurnossi – Those pilgrims that originally followed Slagemon are put to a different task. After shaping the face of the mountain (an ever evolving process) they discovered a rich supply of coal, which they use to heat the mountain through large furnaces carved in the bottom and worked through a system of long vents and chimneys to the mountain top. The Infurnossi, trained since birth at shaping and working stone, are a debatable second to dwarves in the excellence of their craft. It is also the Infurnossi who grow and keep the gardens at the base of Mt. Telestia.
