Warforged come into the world as adults and none as of yet have been confirmed to die of old age. Some warforged are nearly 800 years old.

Naming Traditions

Older generation warforged usually have dwarven first names but no surnames. Newer generations are often named after places, things, or concepts with their 'parents' first name as their own last but they may also just name themselves however they like.

Warforged can speak, read, and write either Common or Dwarven.

Warforged may pick from either the dwarven gods and cultures or from an imperial human culture for their heritage.

History

A little more than eight centuries ago a war between the Corithan Empire and the kingdoms of the Mountain Dwarves became a desperate affair. The Imperial Legions could not launch a successful assault on the dwarfholds and the dwarves could not dislodge the enemy forces on the surface so the war settled into a bloody siege. Desperate and starving, the dwarven kings ordered their artificers to build artificial soldiers of stone and metal to lead their assaults on the surface and force an end to the conflict. These constructs were weapons so beautiful in form and function they gained the admiration of the god Vulcan who seeing their splendor breathed life into the machines and created the warforged race.
Warforged are a rare and not widespread species, if they can be called a species. Independent mountain dwarf clans consider their warforged much like servants in their clan's employ for generations while an imperial ban on slavery lead to the mass release of warforged a few centuries back. They are the youngest race on Magna Testudo and have yet to find a place. In recent years a new generation of warforged has emerged as free warforged create new members of their people to pass on their knowledge wisdom, in essence, becoming parents often hundreds of years after they themselves were 'born'.
