The Red Fog Wars

Introduction:

Three mighty nations lay next to each other and with expanding borders and varying traditions in culture the countries quickly grew into a state of discontent. Each nation wanted more than they had and were pushing for more resources and land, which ultimately led to the start of the war.

Boundaries:

The Dwarves of Worheim

  • Mynari: The Dwarves of Worheim and the Humans who dwell in Mynari have fought for generations over the control of Seaforth Lake that separates the two realms. The lake that lies between both Worheim and Mynari provides a great many resources as well as a naval presence in the center of the two realms.

  • Lahar: The Slag elves of the North have been pushing into some of the lower regions of Worheim near the Painted Wastes.

The Humans of Mynari

  • Worheim: The Humans of Mynari have been in a constant struggle with the dwarves on superiority and control over the vast lake that splits the two realms. The Mynari are excellent fisherman and naval operators who have proved themselves to be a strong contender in the seas.

  • Lahar: The Slag elves have been a constant nuisance to the Humans of Mynari as they plunder and raid their southeastern villages and disturbing the Centaurs the humans call friends.

The Slag Elves of Lahar

  • Mynari: The constant naval pressure from the Humans in Mynari has forced the Slag elves to make their presence known by raiding their coastal villages and sinking ships in the middle of the night as they are anchored.

  • Worheim: The Dwarves in Worheim have looked down on the Slag elves for hundreds of years due to their "Barbaric" rituals. The slag Elves feel that the land the dwarves currently own is theirs by right and have started intruding on the realm of Worheim.

The Start of the War:

The great war started during the expansion of the Dwarves in the year 1478. As the dwarves population began to grow, so did their aspirations for more land, which brought them right in on the borders of the humans who called them neighbors.   Tensions rose between the two kingdoms, and fighting began to break out on the southern edges of Sea Forth Lake. Some say the fight broke out when a farmer was found dead in his home with a knife in his belly, and others say a human from Mynair was taken prisoner and never seen again. The exact reason behind the war may never be known. Armies were summoned, and a great battle took place on a foggy morning near the edges of the lake. The bloodshed was immense on both sides, and many say the fog was dyed red with the blood of the fallen.

The Fire Front:

Not even two days into the battle did the Slag elves of Lahar show up raiding the southern villages of both realms killing many enslaving more. As news reached the great leaders at the head of the armies of the massacres on the coast, both armies broke off to protect their homelands. They met in battle again on the southern borders of their kingdoms fighting a familiar foe. The two forces joined together shortly after seeing the atrocities that had succumbed their kin. For the first time since the beginning of time, the two nations had a common goal; to destroy the realm of Lahar. They joined armies and sailed across the sea to the realm of lahar landing on the beaches in the year 1479. A great battle ensued three days after the arrival as the High chieftain of the slag elves summed a great army to protect his lands. During the campaign, the Slag Elf Chieftan would be slain in a grand fight against the warrior princess Floren Wyndham.

The Conclusion of the War:

The realm of Lahar had suffered a significant loss that day on the battlefield and in their culture. Many firstborn children were taken as prisoners, and the nation had to sacrifice a great many resources. They were also forbidden from creating another army with the intent of conquering lands under penalty of destruction.   The Realms of Mynari and Worheim settled their difference to fight a familiar foe. At the end of the war, they became close allies vowing to protect each other when invaded or helping when the other needed to attack a neighboring realm.   The Treaty was known as the "Fog Treaty."
