Gölabra

Where Magma Flows In Rivers And Clouds Of Black Soot Float Through The Sky.

Written by WDMichael

Introduction:

Located deep in the southwestern region of Magmoia in the realm of Lahar lies The Tazalt Mountains. Mt. Göl stands at the base of the mountain range as the highest volcano in Magmoia. The mountain range is considered by many to be the most active volcanic mountain ranges in the world of Magmoia. The region is a fiery spectacle of smoke and magma bellowing into the sky. The ground beneath contains countless treasures hidden beneath the surface; the Tazalt Mountains are teeming with natural resources from Black Smoke Glass, Metals, and Magma Shards.

Treasures of the Tazalt Mountains:

  • The most abundant possession mined from the mountains is Black Smoke Glass. The glass, harvested in multiple mines throughout the Tazalt mountains, are controlled by the Slag Elves of Gölabra. Commonly named the Black Mines of the Tazalt Mountains, and as the name implies the mines are teeming with Black Glass. The Slag Elves have become skilled craftsman of the volcanic glass, and their work is sought after in Magmoia; all of course for Woreheim and Mynari who have all but banned trade from Lahar.

  • The most sought after treasure in the Black Mines is the Magma Shards. These gemstones are never allowed to leave the kingdom of Gölabra under penalty of death and ruin to one's family. Any elf caught in the mines trying to smuggle a shard out to sell for themselves is punished swiftly and fiercely. Magma Shards have been a token of power to the Slag Elves since the beginning of time.

Folcan Magnu:

The Great Folcan Magnu, the first Forgemaster in Gölabra created the massive forge, countless weapons and many other treasures still located in Gölabra. He would be the first to inlay Obsidian weapons with Magma shards, creating some of the most famous weapons the kingdom has ever known. Rumors say that the blade of the weapon would become as hot as the lava itself, turning the blade orange allowing the warriors wielding the blade to slice through armor like butter.

Defences

The geography of the land defends the kingdom of Gölabra. A great river of lava flows from Mount Göl flows around the city. Entry into the nation is near impossible if the Slag Elves deem you untrustworthy. The air is also quite toxic to most and can make staying in the area hazardous for any who are not used to the fumes from the mountain.

Industry & Trade

Black Glass Arrow Heads sell throughout the world as a means of gaining access to trade in Magmoia. Many of the Slag elves spend countless hours mining black glass and crafting it into arrowheads. Black Glass Mirrors are quite large and take months to complete and as so the product is quite expensive, only offered to the most wealthy of Magmoia. Few kingdoms have Black Glass tables made with a map of the realm carved into the table.

Geography

A broad, expansive volcanic mountain range that is continuously exploding in clouds of smoke and magma as the volcanoes here are still quite active.
