Birth Rune

The Birth Rune is the embodiment of the transition of a spirit from the Aethyr to Maerl in the form of a new person born of a mother.

History & Usage

History

The creation of Aldr and Haldr by their birth from Rhad-Maerl is one proposed source of this rune. Other suggest that the division of Maerl from the Aethyr was the start. In any case, the conclusion is that the rune clearly depicts a begining on Maerl.

Depiction

The Birth Rune is conventionally depicted as two open triangles joined at the apex and stood like an hour-glass marking the start of time.

Associations

The Birth Rune is closely associated with the Maker Rune and twinned with the Death Rune.

Despite the popular perception, the Birth and Death are not antiethical to each other but complementatry in the cycles of the world.
