half-elf

The comeliness of elves is legendary among other humanoids, even those whose standards of beauty are at odds with elven aesthetics. In particular, humans have historically admired elves for their long-lived beauty, and elves, in turn, have tended to find humans exotic and endearing in their own way, despite their relative coarseness and clumsiness.

While cross-species pairings of this sort may be frowned upon by both communities, love often finds a way, and due to a quirk common to many of the humanoid species, this pairing more often than not produces offspring bearing traits of both parents. Longer-lived and exotically comely compared to humans, shorter-lived and less graceful than the elves, such offspring often find themselves caught between two worlds.
