Brauron
Though technically a territory of The Republic of Adria, Brauron operates, out of necessity, largely independently. The western third of Brauron is perpetually under martial law, a measure taken for centuries to support the defense of The Brauron Line against the particularly fearsome attacks of the northern Grays. The remainder of the region exists solely to support this effort, and handles much of its commerce via the Bilge-Lee river that runs through the heart of the region on its way to the Irune Sea. In addition to humans, Brauron has a higher percentage of Dwarf and Gnome residents than the rest of The Republic. Much of the Line is manned by dwarves and humans, while the eastern regions host massive manufacturing complexes, operated largely by industrious gnomes. Still, Brauron is home to a wide variety of individuals, from any number of races, whose lives are united around combat, the commerce of war, or simply deep-seated hatred for the Grays.
Brauron is a Beylik, and therefore governed solely (and meticulously) by a single Bey (currently Thurigit Embermaul). Due to Brauron's fundamental role in preserving the freedom of the eastern lands, the Bey is one of the three members of The Triumvirate.
