Session 18 - Bishop, Flower, Mill and Cauldron
General Summary
Vashti spent the next week in her cave, playing hostess to a curious Light-Heart. She had several conversations with Sister Irina, first asking for some parchment, a quill, and some ink. Then to ask if the nunnery had a large cauldron. It was determined that while the nunnery did not have such a cauldron, Lada probably had one Vashti could use for the foreseeable future. Ivan was happy to help bring Vashti her new cauldron and then to split some wood for her. Vashti then divided her time between walking around the area mapping out the local surroundings and boiling something in her new cauldron. At one point in time she had a taste of the brew she was making and it made her float for a few hours. On the last day of her cooking Vashti saw Mother Time in the cauldron. They had a short conversation where Vashti asked if she was still on the correct path to saving her people from disaster and Mother Time told her to use both her eyes to see.
Sister Irina told Sister Evdokia about her time away, the conversation was a little awkward due to Sister Irina's talons. Sister Irina also went to visit her cloistered Mother Superior. She had meant to just spend time near her cell, but the other nun sensed her presence and welcomed her into her cell. They spent some time together and after a while the mother superior decided to cut off most of Irina's hair. Feeling somewhat better after her time with the older nun Irina retired for the night. Later in the week, Later in the week Bishop Tikhon and some soldiers rolled into town. The bishop called for Sister Irina to talk to him. They talked he was disappointed they did not have the prisoner but was still happy with her work in general. He decided she was ready to take her vows to become a full-fledged novice. She decided to pledge herself to St Beatus. She then was given a ceremonial hair trim by the bishop (as most of her hair was gone) and welcomed to the orders. Once done with his business in town the bishop planned to march against the pagans.
Borya made his way back to his beloved's village, where he paid a visit to his friend Kuz'ma, and spoke to him where about the nature of marriage, romance and getting older. Borya was convinced everyone had a romantic hero in them, his friend was inclined to think this was not so. The next day Borya went to the house of Piotr Nikolaevich - father of his beloved. He gave the lily he had so long sought. The reaction was less effusive than he had hoped. Then ensued an argument over who should have figured out how to use the lily. Piotr was convinced Borya was an idiot for not getting direction with the lily. Borya contended all he was told was to get said lily. They parted as Borya got some mysterious (possibly sinister) instruction, and the father went to the healer to try and find what to do with the beautiful lily.
After recovering for a few days, Ivan talked to Irina about getting dispensation to go off for a few days. After she determined his activities would not imperil his soul, Irina sent Ivan on his way. Ivan then spent a few days looking for the mill they had found and once he found it Ivan set about cleaning it up. He had a conversation with a rabbit about whose mill this was, and if Ivan should be mucking about there. After the conversation Ivan continued to clear out the mill and tried to create planks to repair it. On the second day of his attempting to repair the mill Borya wandered by the mill. Ivan and Borya had a happy if taciturn reunion. Borya offered to help create planks as he was a woodcutter by profession. While he was doing so Ivan made the mill a little more weather resistant so they could store the planks in the mill without the rain adversely affecting them. They then returned to Aleksandrovka.
Meanwhile back at the village tempers had been flaring. Unusual fighting had been the order of the day. Based on a vision she had, Irina feared there could have been some mischief with St. Aleksandr's book, so she decided to look in on it. What will she find?
